I’d like to start off by saying that there are literally hundreds of track saw options available for purchase, a veritable cornucopia of powercorded powertools. This represents a dilemma for many would-be track saw owners, who don’t know where to look or what to look for when buying a track saw.

If you are like me a few years back, you probably experienced a similar sense of dread and concern when you thought about buying a track saw. Maybe this is why Track saws sold relatively slowly at first.

Fear not. After reading this article, I’m confident that you will be able to make the right decision when the time comes for you to buy one for yourself.

To start things off, I’m going to explain the differences between the two main types of track saws then we’ll jump into the reviews of the top 8 best track saws, keeping in mind the essential features for a track saw to be truly “Track Saw Ready.”

The Triton track saw is an amazing tool to have in your workshop. It has a standard design that makes it look pretty much like any other circular saw.

The purchase includes the track saw, a 14-inch blade, a fold away stand and a guide with a clamp to keep it at its place.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Which track saw is best?

I’ll first say that the most important factor in deciding which track saw is best is your budget.

All of the large-class track saws are extremely powerful. Money aside, the two best track saws are the Festool TS 75 and the Bosch 5100-09. Both saws will serve you well for decades of woodworking and with a budget in mind, the Festool offers the best performance (compared to the Bosch) given the cost.

The Makita model offers a small performance gap over the others but that will come at a sizable premium price.

In future, we may add other track saws to this list but, for now, these three will most likely meet the needs of anyone shopping the list.

Which plunge saw is best?

Discussed in this guide are the best saws for power, portability, and the durability. Within these categories, there are two or three highly recommended saws. They are the Makita 5007M, Ryobi P4011, and the Makita 5005M.

If you're wondering which saw we recommend, then you will be pleasantly surprised! It's the Makita 5007M.

Is the Rotorazer saw any good?

Yes, the Bosch Rotorazer is a great saw that adds a great deal of value to an old classic. For those who don't often cut deep into their cuts or do any reciprocating motion on the cut, this saw is a great option. For those who do a lot of heavy-duty cuts into materials or want the option to have a saw that is lighter and more compact, there are likely better options.

A solution for those who really want the Rotorazer but need even more power is to permanently attach the Bosch T106 blade. This gives the saw a maximum depth of 1-5/8", which is just slightly better than the DeWalt DCS391's 1-15/16" deep cut.

What is a track saw good for?

Cutting accurate cross, miter, and bevel cuts is the brand new use for this tool. But, can it handle typical carpentry cuts? Yes and no.

If you are a woodworker who runs all the sawdust out of your shop every night, then a track saw is likely worth the extra cost.

Track saws are designed to cut precisely. They are really messy and dirty to use. They aren't meant to cut more than a few cuts before needing to be cleaned.

If you are a hobbyist woodworker who doesn't mind rough dust going everywhere, then they might not be the best choice for you. However, if you don't mind that dusty look and want faster cuts, then a track saw is the tool that will help you reach that goal.

Conclusion

Track saws are an excellent tool for professional and DIY woodworkers. The problem is that there's a lot of track saw brands and models out there, and it can be hard to know which is the best for your needs. That's why we’ve put together this article dedicated to comparing the top 8 track saws. The goal is to help you confidently choose the best track saw for you without needing to go through hours of research.
